We’re live!
We're excited to announce that Totnes Business Forum is now officially registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC), and is open for membership.
Getting to this point has taken months of careful groundwork. The Forum was set up to give independent businesses in Totnes and the surrounding area a hub to share ideas, collaborate and innovate, and a stronger collective voice. From the start, we wanted it to be built on solid foundations, so it would be transparent, accountable and here for the long term.
Laying the foundations
Becoming a CIC means the Forum is legally committed to working for the benefit of the community rather than private profit. Our application set out how the Forum will serve local businesses, drawing on the priorities identified in the Totnes Community Economic Plan, and we researched the number and spread of businesses across the area to understand who the Forum is here for, and what it needs to do.
Alongside the CIC application, we drafted our governing documents and a full set of policies, so anyone can see exactly what we stand for and how the Forum is run.
Ready for members
We've also set up a business bank account with the Co-operative Bank and built our website where local businesses can now apply for membership online. Membership starts from £5/month, and as a not-for-profit CIC we aim to keep costs as low as possible.
We're grateful for the support of Totnes Town Council throughout this process.
If you run a business in Totnes or the surrounding area, we'd love you to be part of the Forum. Join us!
